Venus and Jupiter in Capricorn: The healing and birthing power of the She-Shaman
A week ago Venus and Jupiter were in brilliant conjunction in the early morning sky. I am not a morning person, but I was glad of an early work meeting that forced me to be in the car at 5:30 am this morning with a second chance to see these two “morning superstars”, a little further away from each other but inescapably present. Admittedly, this is a Western Horizon viewpoint, but just as we did not see yesterday’s solar eclipse on the north end of the planet, the effects were just as strong. We are also connected in consciousness not just on this planet but also with the universe, and so the idea of a “New Dawn” applies anywhere at anytime. This conjunction feels like a grand inauguration to Pluto’s entry into Capricorn, especially since it is also in Capricorn. There is a sober feeling in the air as what we’ve collectively created becomes clearer. Along with that sobering clarity is the grounded patience to do what one must to attain the goals desired as well as staying true to oneself and the values one identifies with. And so, there is a growth process that requires an unlearning. This bright planetary aspect in the dawn of the morning and at the beginning of a year that is symbolically a beginning cycle year seems to be symbolizing the idea of judgments and new values based on new truths that are being birthed in our collective field of consciousness.
The archetype of Capricorn correlates to maturation, time and space and how humans organize themselves with cultures societies, man made laws, customs and social taboos. It is very much about our lives in third dimensional reality as we deal with the ideas of group consciousness, psychological and emotional maturity, aging, death, and ideas that get crystallized which then need to “grow up and move forward”. With Venus in Capricorn, value systems are often tied into the social consensus with a distinct lack of spontaneity coupled with extraordinary control. After all, the polarity of Capricorn is Cancer, and so inherent in the archetype is the vulnerability that requires protection and defense, hiding the deep feelings, warmth nurturance and caring, for fear of both vulnerably and being wrongly judged. Instead, security may need to come form being the authoritarian and generally outward successful and ambitious.
With Venus in Capricorn, we also have the need to reexamine our values and conditioning patterns and then not be afraid to express them. We are all emotionally arrested, hiding our feelings and stifling the courage to mature into a new self image that more accurately reflects who we are, what we need, and that is free from the socially constructed prison of consciousness with deeply embedded patterns of conditioning stemming from our wounded “collective childhood”. We are learning who to trust and who not to trust. We are learning what we might have to do to stay secure and independent within the social structure.
Jupiter in Capricorn is in its fall, noted for characteristics such as “too cautious for their own good” or letting fear inhibit basic optimism and opportunity. And yet there is the steady progress that comes from hard work and discipline, which can create responsible, reliable qualities that stem from a core of self- control and authority that inspires trust.
So, as always, reflecting on our past, this time in history, our personal stories of woundedness and how these affect our roles within the culture, may bring higher insights. Getting up early enough to sit quietly outside somewhere (it may be in your car if it’s cold) to let the natural energies of Venus and Jupiter enter into your consciousness, will amplify and accelerate the coming of your new world vision.
